Strong governance is the bedrock of resilient, accountable, and thriving organizations. At Foxfire Collective, we work with boards, leadership teams, and advisory bodies to strengthen your governance structures and practices. We go beyond the traditional, grounding our support in equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation, often guiding you to decolonize leadership and governance approaches.
Governance isn’t just about rules and roles. It’s about how decisions are made, who is at the table, and how values are lived in practice. We work with Boards, advisory groups, and leadership teams to create governance processes that reflect your commitments, support ethical leadership, and foster accountability and trust.
We offer customized, full-spectrum governance support. Whether you need a focused review or a long-term strategy, we meet you where you are.
We support you to:
At Foxfire, we don't treat decolonization or EDI as separate services; they are embedded throughout everything we do. Governance that reflects today's realities must also reflect the histories, identities, and rights of the people it serves. Decolonization and equity are woven in.
We support organizations and Nations to move beyond colonial governance models and create space for Indigenous knowledge systems, relational accountability, and cultural protocols. Whether we’re developing decision-making processes, engaging Elders and youth, or facilitating governance renewal, our work centres reconciliation and respect.
We believe strong governance must reflect the diversity of your people and the principles you stand for. From inclusive policy design to equity-based Board development, we support you to create governance cultures where all voices are heard and every member feels safe, seen, and valued.
Foxfire offers more than governance templates - we offer partnership. With over 15 years of experience supporting governance transformation across Indigenous communities, non-profits, and public systems, we bring a relational, strategic, and responsive approach to every engagement. We work with care, listen deeply, and tailor each process to reflect your story, your strengths, and your goals.
Unrecognized by the Indian Act, the Indigenous community of Kelly Lake has spent years fighting for formal status and resources. In a multi-year partnership with Foxfire, the community embarked on a journey to design its own form of self-governance. The result is a formal Indigenous government that is rooted in traditional Cree practices, guided by Elders, and actively shaping its own future.
